At 23, I remember sitting in the office of the Criminal Defense Law Firm where I worked, staring blankly at my desk. The goal had always been to become an attorney. That was the plan. The safe path. The respectable route.

But reality looked different. I was a single mom. My fiancé had just cheated on me. My hormones were completely shot from stress, leaving me exhausted yet wired, unable to rest, unable to feel at peace in my own body. I had convinced myself that competing in another bodybuilding competition would give me purpose—that if I could just discipline myself harder, sculpt myself into something perfect, I’d finally feel aligned.

But it wasn’t alignment. It was a distraction. Another bandaid over the gaping wound of disconnection.

I felt like a failure—the one thing I was taught to fear the most, the deepest source of shame I could carry.

I was so far from who I really was. And I knew it.

Seeing people happy didn’t inspire me—it made me bitter. Not because I didn’t want happiness, but because I had no idea what my happiness even looked like. My identity felt like a stranger. My soul felt distant, almost unreachable.

It wasn’t one big revelation that brought me back. It was a slow unraveling—a deep, holistic process of returning to myself. And in that return, I realized something profound:

No matter how much my external reality shifted, there was always something within me that remained—an inherent worthiness, divinity, and knowing that existed beyond my circumstances.

I wasn’t broken. I wasn’t lost. I had just forgotten how to listen.

Why Soul Connection is a Holistic Affair

At The Soulhouse Practice, I teach that we are both human and soul, and true alignment comes from integrating all aspects of ourselves. The path back to your soul isn’t just about mindset shifts or spiritual bypassing—it requires deep, embodied work. This is why soul connection must be a holistic affair.

The five pillars of The Soulhouse Practice—self-reconnection, embodiment, nourishment, nervous system regulation, and purpose alignment—are the foundation for returning home to yourself.

1. Self-Reconnection: Creating Space to Hear Your Soul

The first step to soul connection is remembering how to listen. In the noise of the world, your soul speaks in stillness. But when was the last time you truly sat with yourself—without distraction, without needing to fix anything, just allowing yourself to be?

At 23, I had spent years ignoring myself, numbing through perfectionism, work, and external achievements. But it was in the quiet moments—through meditation, breathwork, and journaling—that I began to hear the voice of my soul again.

Practice: Dedicate at least five minutes a day to silence. Whether through meditation, breath awareness, or simply sitting with yourself—begin to cultivate a relationship with your inner world.

2. Embodiment: Listening to Your Body’s Wisdom

I used to think my body was something to control. That if I pushed harder—through workouts, through dieting, through extreme discipline—I could mold it into something that would make me feel worthy. But my body wasn’t an object to perfect; it was a messenger, constantly communicating my state of alignment or disconnection.

When I was out of alignment, I felt it in my gut, in my tension, in my exhaustion. I had been trained to ignore those signals, but embodiment taught me how to listen.

Practice: Move in ways that feel good instead of forcing your body into rigid routines. Whether it’s dance, intuitive stretching, or walking in nature, embodiment brings you back into the present moment—where your soul actually resides.

3. Nourishment: Fueling Your Connection

The way you nourish yourself directly affects how connected you feel. At my lowest, I wasn’t just emotionally depleted—I was physically depleted. My hormones were wrecked, my energy was unstable, and no amount of mindset work could compensate for a body that was running on empty.

Soul alignment isn’t just spiritual; it’s biological. The gut-brain connection, blood sugar balance, hydration, and micronutrients all play a role in how present, clear, and connected you feel.

Practice: Pay attention to how food affects your mood and energy. Choose whole, nourishing foods that support vitality and mental clarity. Your soul deserves a well-fueled vessel.

4. Nervous System Health: Feeling Safe Enough to Receive Intuition

One of the biggest reasons people feel disconnected from their soul is because their nervous system is in survival mode. When your body is constantly in a state of fight-or-flight—whether from stress, past trauma, or overstimulation—it becomes nearly impossible to access your intuition.

For years, my body had been in a constant state of defense. My stress levels were high, my sleep was disrupted, and my emotions felt unmanageable. It wasn’t that my soul wasn’t speaking—it was that my body wasn’t in a state to receive its guidance.

Practice: Regulate your nervous system through breathwork, somatic release, and intentional rest. Prioritize safety over hustle. A calm body is the gateway to an aligned soul.

5. Purpose: Living in Alignment With Your Truth

Your soul isn’t just meant to be heard—it’s meant to be lived. When you’re out of alignment with your purpose, everything feels forced. You might be successful by external standards, but deep down, there’s a disconnect—a feeling that something is missing.

For me, that disconnect looked like chasing achievements that weren’t truly mine. Trying to prove my worth through status, career paths, and perfection. It wasn’t until I started making soul-led decisions—decisions based on what actually felt true to me—that I finally felt free.

Practice: Ask yourself daily: Is this choice aligned with who I really am? If the answer is no, realign. Your purpose isn’t something you force—it’s something you uncover by living in truth.

Returning to Your Soul is a Full-Body Experience

Soul connection isn’t just a concept—it’s a practice. It’s something you live, breathe, and embody. The more you integrate these five pillars into your daily life, the more natural alignment becomes.

At The Soulhouse Practice, I help leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs reconnect with their soul in a holistic way—because true success isn’t just about achievement. It’s about alignment.
